Only have a few shoots left for the year and starting to think back on what this year provided me. Pictured above is my first shoot of 2018 for @hollywoodreporter. @reedmorano is a director I really respect. What she accomplished with Handmaids Tale and her recent film, which I love, I Think We’re Alone Now, is really awesome❤️ This was an unexpected shoot because I prepped to do some really great portraits of her in the editing room while she was cutting ITWAN but arrived to the location and no one managing it knew that my team and I were suppose to be there 😂😭We couldn’t get into the suite but I was able to get some really nice photos of her on this backdrop—ALWAYS be prepared!! She was incredibly sweet and easy to photograph. Super stoked to have this session in my book because I had been wanting to do more black & white. For this last one of Afropunk today I just really wana say thanks to all of you who constantly reach out and support me. You know who you are but I DEF know who you are and am here for you in turn. We all need uplifting at times and while I’m currently on a high, pay close attention to those around me who are not. Love is not always easy, but it is always kind and gives you so much back. Show me someone who is compassionate and I’ll show you someone who has been hurt. I’ve always had a peculiar relationship with Black women. I didn’t really grow up around any and the few experiences I did have we’re not pleasant. I never let that shape my outlook as I believe in an individuals power and not the power of stereotypes. I’m 34 now and it’s taken me most of my life to better understand the depth of compassion and heart Black women have, while having to be warriors. They fight against hate on their skin, their body, their hair, their gender, who they love and the fetishization of their very being….just to name a few. I’m constantly learning and understanding better what it means to be an ally as I challenge those around me to do the same. We just had a major election and there was heavy talk across all platforms on the Black female vote being necessary and what would ultimately save us (slow us down) from this spiraling into deeper apathy and hate of this cabinet. When will we save them from persecution of just being? To all the Black women in my life, I’m sending you love 🙌🏿🖤🙏🏿 #futureisfemale #blackwomenrock

Martha MacCallum, one of @foxnews leading anchors, is the only person who was able to sit down with Brett Kavanaugh before his hearing with Dr Blasey Ford. Political views aside, you find ways to celebrate achievements for all women in entertainment who work extremely hard and find new ways to do what they do. For me this shoot was one of my biggest challenges yet, having only 15 minutes to set up and 20 minutes to shoot a few options. Though we’re in a lit studio, nothing was hitting Martha where we needed it so with the help of my super star assistant @_thefox , we set up this shot which took 4 extra lights and a large bounce to get exactly what I wanted to get; something strong, finessed, soft and flattering but with hints of shadows 💡👤 // Huge thanks as always to the @hollywoodreporter and it’s lovely team of ladies that include the tireless @mstark1 @jenlaski and now @liebs123 for continuous support in my work 🎥✨🙏🏿✨ #womeninmedia #drblaseyford #metoo #imwithher #ibelieveher (at Fox News Channel)
